SHUTTLE CREW
Mountain Bike Rotorua - Hosting - Permanent - $24+ per hour for qualified drivers

We are looking for new whānau to join our Shuttle Crew. Our Shuttle Crew are friendly, helpful, love the team atmosphere and are passionate about creating safe and enjoyable experiences for all our manuhiri, and locals alike, to the Whakarewarewa Forest in Rotorua.

 

The Mountain Bike Rotorua whānau (family) is one that was born from an ethos of ensuring that every experience is always about people. MBR Crew are employed to work on the frontline at one or more work sites for Mountain Bike Rotorua. Staff members are responsible for the frontline operations of several organisational areas. Staff are rostered to specific sites and responsibilities for the day are delegated by the Duty Manager. Whilst the responsibilities of MBR Crew are multi-faceted, staff members may be hired for their specific expertise in one or more of the following departments:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Bike Operations:

  • Customer interaction and service

  • Checking bikes in and out.

  • Undertaking basic and/or advanced mechanical checks.

  • Briefing customers on how to operate the bikes and on appropriate trail options for their riding ability.

  • Comprehensive safety briefing of bike, helmet, forest signage/hazards, emergency procedures

 

Retail Operations:

  • Operate the Tawa, Skyline and Waipa Office

  • Customer service

  • Bike hire booking process (email, phone)

  • Bike hire procedure (when customers arrive on site)

  • Advising customers on appropriate retail purchases

  • Till management

  • POS management

 

Shuttle Operations:

  • Customer service

  • Assist Customers with loading bikes on to trailers

  • Assist Customers with securing bikes to trailers

  • Support drivers with checks, sales and customer management

  • Support with close up procedures

 

All staff are expected to undertake the following daily duties:

 

Attend daily team meetings and complete delegated actions.

Complete all duties for the role for which they are asked to undertake.  

Sign in and out of WhenIWork at the start/end of their shift.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Friendly and presentable

  • Good communication skills

  • Computer literacy

  • Financial Literacy

  • Ability to operate to set standards, follow procedures and guidelines and maintain good records

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (will be required to converse with NZ and International visitors).

  • Highly motivated individual.

  • Excellent telephone manner.

  • Broad knowledge of New Zealand geography and information.

  • The following will be advantageous:

  • Experience in the tourism industry

  • An interest in cycling and the outdoors and bike mechanics

  • Knowledge of foreign language.

  • Knowledge of the Whakarewarewa Forest and trailoptions

Shuttle Operations:

The goals for Shuttle Operations are to provide:

  2. trailers and bikes are always checked that they are secure

  3. comprehensive and helpful advice on trail options

 

Health and Safety:

  • Adopt a positive and focussed approach to health and safety in the workplace, to ensure active steps are taken to ensure own wellbeing and wellbeing of others.

  • Follow all MBR and MBRS health and safety practices, systems and processes.

  • Carry out required reporting for hazards, accidents and incidents.

  • Continually seek to isolate and eliminate hazards.

  • Wear all required PPE

  • Work with Health and Safety Representatives

 

This role would be permanent, working a range of shifts within our opening hours, operating across 7 days a week. Candidates must be available weekends. This role may develop into a supervisory role.
