Mountain Bike Rotorua Shuttles is the provider for forest uplift services in Whakarewarewa. We take pride in offering a friendly service with knowledgable staff using a modern and more environmentally friendly fleet than we have seen before in the Forests of Rotorua.

Our options for forest shuttles are:

​

Public Shuttle - Operating daily (extreme weather, harvesting or event dependant and closed Xmas and Boxing Days), our public shuttle service uses our modernised fleet of buses to transport customers from the intersection of Hill and Pipeline Roads to the top of a number of trails near the summit of Tawa Hill (Tawa Rd). Updates are provided on our Facebook and Instagram channels.

 

First WHAKA WAKA pickup of the day is from Wheelhouse Coffee Shop (Te Puia Southern Carpark) leaving at 10am, then Waipa Mountain Bike Carpark leaving approximately 5mins later, with the operational times being:

 

Main Hill Public Shuttles

Mon-Thurs - 10am-3pm

Fri - 10am-7pm (Night Shuttles)

Sat-Sun - 10am-4pm

Tawa Public Shuttles 

Sat-Sun and Holidays - 10am-3pm 

We also have an additional TAWA WAKA service that operates Saturdays, Sundays and school/public holidays 10am-3pm from the new Te Putake o Tawa Carpark on Tarawera Rd, Rotorua. The pick up location is at the forest entrance from Te Putake o Tawa Carpark and drops at the intersection of Hill and Direct Rds (bottom of Frontal Lobotomy). The time frame from pick up to pick up again is generally 15-20mins for the bus, so does 3-4 uplifts every hour.

Tickets can be purchased from either of our bikes shop (Tawa Bike Shop or Waipa Bike Shop) or on the main Hill Rd shuttle buses (Whaka Waka). Please note that the Tawa Waka does not have ticket sales available however it is a 200m walk or ride to the Tawa Shop from that particular pick up point.

5 Lift Pass - $60

10 Lift Pass - $90

20 Lift Pass - $150

50 Lift SOLO RIDER Pass - $240 (10 runs shareable)

50 Lift Pass - $300

All passes are Shareable (excluding the Solo Rider), Non-Refundable and prices include GST. Use of the shuttles is at your own risk. While Mountain Bike Rotorua Shuttles has made a significant investment to develop an efficient and safe uplift system, we will not accept liability for damage of equipment while using our services.

Battle Waka (up to 4 riders) - $140 per hour (minimum 3 hours)

Squad Waka (up to 9 riders) - $180 per hour (minimum 3 hours)
