Mountain Bike Rotorua is more than just bikes — we’re the crew behind some of the most iconic and fun-filled events in the forest. From grassroots community races to large-scale festivals, we bring the trails to life with events that are inclusive, well-organised, and packed with that legendary Rotorua energy. Whether it’s a first-timer lining up for their debut enduro or a seasoned pro chasing seconds, our events are built to deliver epic days on the bike for everyone.
With deep roots in the community and a passion for showcasing the best of the Whakarewarewa Forest, we work closely with mana whenua, local organisations, and partners to create events that leave lasting impressions — not just tyre marks. Our focus is simple: world-class trails, good vibes, and events that keep people talking long after the last person crosses the line.

GIANT LEGENDS ENDURO SERIES

The Giant Legends Enduro Series races are events for everyone young to old, who love riding their Mountain bikes, cruising up the hills and racing down. They draw in the riders who seek to have fun and hone their skills on flowing downhill trails.
The beauty of these events is that the podium places are a battleground that can see a cross-country machine, passionate Enduro rider, mad downhill rider, or even social weekend warrior push to the front. Skills, fitness and tactics play an equal role in the execution of each ‘Race Stage’ timed run over the course of the event to decide who will be crowned gravity champions.

Encouraging riders to develop their fitness and skills through the season, each event will get progressively a little harder (fitness and skill wise), gradually challenging riders so by the end of the season they are in the best riding form of their lives.

CRANKWORX ROTORUA

Dive into the roots of Crankworx in legendary Rotorua, Aotearoa New Zealand, where the magic of mountain biking meets the famous hero dirt.
​
Crankworx Rotorua offers a dynamic mix of elite competitions, participatory events, and cultural celebrations. With events ranging from Downhill to Slopestyle, the festival caters to every level of rider.
Athletes battle for crucial points in the King & Queen of Crankworx standings while fans cheered on their favourites in Rotorua’s unique, family-friendly atmosphere.

Beyond the competition, fans enjoyed Kidsworx activities, expo booths, and cultural showcases that highlight the deep connection between the land and the sport. Rotorua’s vibrant trails, world-class events, and community spirit make it a must-visit for mountain biking enthusiasts.

NATIONAL MOUNTAIN BIKE DH CHAMPS

The MTB National Championships will be hosted in Rotorua for 2025 and 2026 and Mountain Bike Rotorua are the title sponsor of the DH.
​
This is a pinnacle event for New Zealand's mountain bikers. An action packed and thrilling weekend of Cross Country, Short Cross Country Course and Downhill in New Zealand’s spiritual home of Mountain Biking.
​
Cycling New Zealand will be supported by MTBNZ and the Rotorua MTB Club, who will work together with CNZ to present the Champs across 3 days of epicness.

CRANKWORX NEW ZEALAND SUMMER SERIES

The highly anticipated Crankworx Summer Series brings the festival excitement to the beautiful South Island of New Zealand.
Christchurch Adventure Park hosts this action-packed festival, where local and international riders take on world-class courses.
​
This festival isn’t just for the pros—it provides a chance for local up-and-coming riders to race alongside national and global heroes on two purpose-built courses.
Whether competing in local, regional, or national races, male or female, this festival offers a platform for progression and a shot at stepping into the spotlight on a regional, national, or even global stage.

LEGEND OF THE PEAKS

Based in Rotorua, the Geothermal, Cultural and Adventure mecca of Aotearoa New Zealand, the Legend of the Peaks festival provides running and walking events for all levels of fitness with distances starting from 2kms for kids to the pinnacle event, the New Zealand Forest Marathon covering 42kms of off-road trail running. Legend of the Peaks is an epic combination of amazing trails, with a festival zone that includes expo, music, food and good vibes.
